Wow, It looks like your Year Round landscaping team did an amazing job of bringing all the landscaping ideas into reality! It’s not easy to do if you live in a historic area, where there may be rules or traditions for landscaping.

Start the Process!

It all starts with a consultation. You spent some time reviewing your property with Year Round designers, with ideas zipping back and forth. You’ve had some ideas about improvements you would make in the landscaping and outside area since you moved into your home, and now you would like to see some of those ideas become a reality.

Design sketches!

How exciting! Your Year Round designer is bringing sketches for your proposed new landscape! They will be beautiful and reflect on all the time you spent together and your discussion about what you hoped to accomplish. This is always one of the most exciting steps in creating – the design process is revealing and usually fun for everyone involved.

This, This, and… that!

You have chosen wisely! Extra trees will help keep the house cool. Creating extra shade is important in areas where there is a lot of heat and high humidity.

Creating an outdoor living area is brilliant, too. The footprint of your home just had a big increase since most of it will have a roof over it.

Fountains and other water features will help keep things cool, as well. You will probably save quite a bit on your power bills for AC.

To the Garden Shop!

Yes, let’s take a trip to the garden shop and look at textures, more plants, fountain designs, garden gnomes, and, most important (of course) – garden shoes! The kids disappear almost immediately, probably choosing garden statuary, like giant frogs. While we are there, we can select other, more mundane items like mulch color and texture, stones or textured pieces for the patios, and – oh, wow! Wind chimes!

After leaving the garden shop with more than we could possibly need in garden gnomes, fairies, and huge frogs, it is determined that the kids would like some of their own space. An area near the proposed outdoor living area would work well for them. It’s also kind of incredible that they not only cooperated in asking for this but that they want to do it in the first place.

Installation

And so, it starts. Installation. Take a deep breath!

It seems like barely controlled chaos at this point. Little flags mark utility lines everywhere. Piles of pavers, bags and bags of mulch, the new countertop for the outdoor kitchen, it’s all there. Furniture and appliances won’t be here for a few weeks, of course, but with every paver, every shrub, every new sprinkler head, we can see things taking shape.

The new pathway in front is great, and best of all, wheelchair safe. The new bedding is bright and fun, and mulched to perfection. Sod installation is next for the front, maybe next week!

Installation of new trees, shrubs, the privacy hedge, a big rock with layers of white stone and sparkly mica. So beautiful!

Finishing touches

It’s all so lovely. The new grill and stovetop are magnificent, with plenty of cupboards and seating in the kitchen. Big squishy chairs to sink into after a full work day, relax and have something cool to drink. A pool and hot tub, ahhhh!

The privacy hedge is brilliant. Once it fills in, it will provide extra shade, but most of all, some privacy from the passing road. Of course, it will do nothing to block the view of neighbors, trying to see all the great changes that were made.

Flower pots, wreaths, some bookcases next to the squishy chairs to serve double duty as a side table and storage for books and games. Some unique outdoor art picked up at one of the art festivals fits perfectly, especially with the gnomes, frogs, and fairies. And look at that! The kids are learning how to read a sundial!

Wait, do we REALLY need a gnome by the front door? Kids?

Year Round Services will continue to take care of the grass and beddings, of course, and do maintenance on the
landscaping as well. They did an amazing job, and you know they will continue to do their jobs in the best and most beautiful way.
